"God is Able" - for the Rosebud, Day 16

Prayer request: Tomorrow morning (8 a.m. Central time), I will meet with a pastor from the Rosebud. Please keep this meeting in prayer and ask the Father to guide us in His purposes.

Today's encouragement comes from Georgia Smith, who has been supporting this prayer and fasting effort against the high suicide rates on the Rosebud.

In recent emails, Georgia offers good reminders that "prayer warriors" must focus on God. God is the one who makes changes, how and when He sees fit. Our prayers are not to manipulate Him, but to seek his will and find direction for our part in his work.

With Georgia's permission, I am posting her array of Bible passages on the theme, "God is Able." Let us cry out to God, who is able to deliver the people of the Rosebud from affliction, poverty, frustration and destruction.

GOD IS ABLE

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace,
The God we serve is able to save us from it,
And he will rescue us from your hand, O king.
Daniel 3:16-18

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven,
Because everything He does is right and all his ways are just.
And those who walk in pride, He is able to humble.
Daniel 4:37

Abraham did not weaken in faith
When he considered the impotence of his own body,
Which was as good as dead because he was about a hundred years old,
Or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah's womb.
No unbelief or distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God,
But he grew strong and was empowered by faith
As he gave praise and glory to God,
Fully satisfied and assured that God was able
And mighty to keep His word
And to do what He had promised.
That is why his faith
Was credited to him as righteousness.
Romans 4:19-22

And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in,
For God is able to graft them in again.
Romans 11:23

Who are you to judge someone else's servant?
To his own master he stands or falls.
And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
Romans 14:4

Now to Him who is able to strengthen you
According to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ,
According to the revelation of the mystery
That was kept secret for long ages, but has now been disclosed
And through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, According to the command of the eternal God,
To bring about the obedience of faith—
To the only wise God be glory forevermore
Through Jesus Christ! Amen.
Romans 16:25-28

And God is able to make all grace abound to you,
So that in all things at all times,
Having all that you need,
You will abound in every good work.
II Corinthians 9:8

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly
Beyond all that we ask or think,
According to the power that works within us,
To Him be the glory in the church
And in Christ Jesus
To all generations forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21 NASB

Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed,
And am convinced that He is able
To guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day.
II Timothy 1:12

Because He himself suffered when He was tempted,
He is able to help those who are being tempted.
Hebrews 2:18

Therefore He is able to save completely
Those who come to God through Him,
Because He always lives to intercede for them.
Such a high priest meets our need - one who is holy, blameless, pure,
Set apart from sinners, exalted above the Heavens.
Hebrews 7:25,26

There is only one Lawgiver and Judge,
The one who is able to save and destroy.
But you - who are you to judge your neighbor?
James 4:12

Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling,
And to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
Jude 24,25

Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep!
See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed.
He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals."
Revelation 5:5

Fr. Timothy,

Just caught the typo in the Revelation 5:5 - it's Root of David.

My mistake, not yours.

All blessings,
Georgia
