The Lakota culture honors women as life-givers. Women transmit community values and older women carry great authority. Women are decisive in family decision making.
Over the next few days, I will share some prayer guidance from women of the Bible. This idea comes from intercessors Jill Woodliff of Lent & Beyond and Georgia Smith.
Today is the church calendar commemoration of Mary Magdalene.
After Jesus rose from the dead early on Sunday morning, the first person who saw him was Mary Magdalene, the woman from whom he had cast out seven demons.
Mark 16:9
Jesus, we praise you for Mary Magdalene. How wonderful that the first one to see your resurrection life was one who had suffered such spiritual affliction.
Jesus, we pray that you will hear the cries of mothers on the Rosebud. So many children are lost to suicide right now. Hear these women and let them look on your resurrection life. Bring new life to the children of the Rosebud.
We pray this in your Name, Jesus. Amen.
