Flag Day I: Sioux Falls ceremony honors first full-blooded Sioux Congressional Medal of Honor recipient

Sioux Falls observed Flag Day with the dedication of a special memorial in honor of the late Woodrow Wilson Keeble, the first full-blooded Sioux tribal member to receive The Congressional Medal of Honor.

Last year, The Army News Service released this detailed account of his life, valor and the long overdue recognition of his service "above and beyond the call of duty."

Two of my parishioners with roots on the Sisseton-Wahpeton Reservation happened to attend the ceremony by circumstances that they attribute to God's grace. They were not aware that the ceremony was going on and just had a feeling that they should go to Veterans' Memorial Park - where they encountered old friends who told them about the upcoming ceremony.
