Amazing but true exchange at our 10 a.m. service yesterday:
Me: So bring a main dish or salad to share and come celebrate at our annual parish meeting next Sunday. I see our Junior Warden has a classic Ray Nitschke Packers jersey on today.
Jr. Warden: Yes, and I wear it proudly.
Lady two pews behind Jr. Warden: *cough*Bears*cough*Bears
Worship Leader: The church is amazing. It's the only place I'd shake hands with someone wearing a Packers jersey.
Me: WALK IN LOVE AS CHRIST LOVED US AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR US...

I don't think I have any vocal Bears fans at my parish. I have a boat load of Packers fans, but I'm not sure how that happened.
I didn't really have a dog in that fight, myself. I did used to live in Chicago and actually went to a Bears game once, but they have the ugliest stadium.
As a long suffering Falcons fan, I yet again got to watch a promising team forget to show up for the playoffs. But, at least they made it to the playoffs. Most years, if they win 4 games, you'd have thought they were a Superbowl team from the way the locals carry on.
Let us pray that the coughing Bears fan can join hands (after washing) with the Packers fan in a couple of weeks and cheer them on as the Packers take on the Steelers.
Any Steelers fans out there?
Yes. The Steelers beat the Jets, who had beaten the Patriots, so many Pats fans are cheering for the Steelers.
Personally, I have no one team that dominates my loyalty. For a variety of reasons, I have an affection for the Patriots, the Redskins, the Steelers, the Eagles, and the Cowboys. I am glad that the game will be Steelers and Packers; I will be more glad if the Steelers win than the Packers, but not as much as if the Patriots were to have won.
