Your offerings at work - Episcopal Church uses $500 per hour lawyer, over $1,000,000 to sue Christians

This report in The Living Church tells a great deal. Very relevant since South Dakota churches are required to make their pledge to the Diocese (who kicks money up to the national church) by December 15th. And The Episcopal Church's own budget site admits that the denomination has spent over a million dollars on lawsuits so far this year.

Not mine! TEC-free since 2006.

Thanks, tregonsee. I pray that the Lord is blessing your stewardship in a more faithful Christian fellowship!

And, it should be noted, there are many in TEC congregations who have stopped giving or give only to designated funds, or to Anglican funds outside the parish.

It is ghastly what TEC is doing.

Yes, "ghastly" it is. And other choice words could be added:
scandalous, outrageous, and horrifying are three that come to mind. Oh, and infuriating, and unjust, and very unbiblical...

This isn't about really about gaining the property of the congregations that have left so far. It's mostly an attempt to intimidate other churches from following their example and thus to keep down future losses.

David Booth Beers is the epitome of why there are so many "don't you just hate lawyers" jokes.

Father, This is off topic. Forgive me. My daughter has a blog where today is she pondering how to make Christmas giving really matter. You can read it here: http://sudokugirl.blogspot.com

I love her idea of organizing a Christmas yard sale in the community where everything is free.
