ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS MART

Please check out the links to the left and, if God moves you, donate to one or more rather than buying trinkets for others. (But do send a card: "Dear Aunt/Uncle X, in your honor I have made a donation to _____.")

All of the listed institutions feature hands-on work or support by Anglicans in Sioux Falls.

I know, I know, it's Advent, not Christmas. But who ever heard of an Advent Mart?

I really love the pictures at the top of the blog. Are you the talented photographer responsible for these gems, Tim?

Sadly, I have no such talent.

Most of the pics are simply Googled... others are from the State of SD site... a few have been from Church of the Good Shepherd archives.

Tim+,

I agree with Anglicat, the pictures of the cardinal and now the antelopes are splendid, no matter where you got them from.

But even better is the brilliant idea of encouraging people to give meaningful gifts for Christmas by making donations in someone's name to a ministry run by someone from the church. Fantastic concept.

But the name needs a little more work, don't you think? I mean Christmas Mart just seems off a bit. In our culture, we like one syllable beofre the Mart part. As in K Mart and Wal-Mart. It's a law you know. You can't go against the culture, right??
So how about this...(drum roll)
... "Gift Mart."

LOL David, you are probably right but I'm too lazy to change the title tonight and too vain to do it quickly on someone else's recommendation.

Guess I could use the great pastoral evasion, "Let me pray about it..."
