SD's Senators split over simple vs. super majority to deal with health care

Johnson: Work around filibuster argusleader.com Argus Leader

Tim Johnson (D) says 51 votes should be enough; John Thune (R) says it should take 60 votes.

  1. I seem to remember in the heyday of George W. Bush that Republicans and Democrats were singing different tunes on whether the nuclear option was legitimate.

  2. I hope folks remember that, Archer, and resist this kind of change for short term victory. It will bring all kinds of nasty unintended consequences.

    In these polarized times, I think the more supermajorities either side is forced to seek, the better.
